• DAL FORNO

  Amarone DOC Veneto, Italy

  2003 was generally characterized by warm temperatures that lead to early ripening and higher sugar levels, so much that some producers, especially in the South, were afraid of losing acidity and balance in their wines. This was never our problem as our winery lies in the North of the country where temperatures, even when higher than average, are never exceedingly hot. Anyway, because of the hot vintage, the 2003 Amarone has a little more residual sugar than the norm and this makes it relatively accessible right now. Deep ruby-red color, ripe, port-like aromas of hazelnut and raisin, very sweet and rich on the palate; a floral note adds flavor, finishes very long. - Winery notes
